HeadRoom at CanJam, 2010- Chicago!

CANJAM 2010, Head-Fi.org's international headphone convention extravaganza, was held in the famous windy city of Chicago IL. Hundreds of crazed headphone lovers descended upon the swanky Hyatt Regency Hotel for a weekend of fun, frivolity and serious headphone listening. As usual, HeadRoom showed up big and we brought a full complement of our top high-end gear & affordable headphone systems for all attendees to check out. Headphone afficionados were able to enjoy quality time with sundry HeadRoom stuff of their choice including our blissful $20,000+ balanced-drive system, our audiophile laptop set-ups and even some reference iPod / iPad-based portable rigs ideal for mobile audiophile listening on the fly.

Free prizes of all manner were handed out with reckless abandon and (amongst many other incredible Head-Fi raffle giveaways) HeadRoom/DENON partnered to give away a heavily in-demand AH-D7000 headphone to a lucky winner in our HeadRoom suite, a grand $1,000 value! We also had lots of free HeadRoom goodies like our Total BitHead Amp/DAC, HeadRoom HeadCase headphone bags, and Maximo iMetal earphones to give away free to contestants who dropped by our friendly private showcase room and filled out a quick 5-minute HeadRoom survey questionnaire. Sorry about your wallet; that is- the unofficial Head-fi motto!"][/caption] One of the great things about Head-Fi is checking out all the D.I.Y. stuff, new products and the rarified uber high-end gear that always turns up at this event. From the manufacturer's end, we were most impressed with Jerry Harvey Audio's new DSP-based headphone amp exclusively designed for use only with their JH13PRO and JH16PRO customized in-ear monitors. The various DSP settings voiced precisely for the JHA balanced-armature design rendered a fully textural and gigantically present bass without bloat or mush along with a soundstage depth of field that was just astounding for in-ear headphones.

No doubt, it's a real advancement in the IEM category and executed with perfect precision by Jerry and team. Amazing stuff that bowled over the jaded HR crew, so nice going JHA! We also quite enjoyed the big Audeez orthodynamic/planar headphones which deliver the best audio measurement specs we've ever seen come out of a headphone to date. The new Michael CENtrance amp gear was cool too. All in all, another great productive and fun show for HeadRoom. We hope all the Head-Fi Can-Jam attendees enjoyed themselves (er, they certainly seemed to ... especially after hours!) and that everyone was able to check out headphone gear of their dreams over the course of a leisurely early summer Chicago weekend.
