Its arrival presented the perfect opportunity to revisit our line-up of compact and folding sealed headphones for a little re-evaluation session. In the past, the PX200 didn't fair so well due to difficulties getting a good seal and therefore poor bass response. Well, whooo-hoooo-ti-hooo!  :L3000: The new Sennheiser PX 200 II fixed that problem, and much more it seems. The old PX200 was one of my personal favorite headphones for all around use; it's a small sealed headphone that neatly folds like a pair of sunglasses into a very compact size. I love these headphones for use by kids watching movies in the car, for use in bed watching the tube, or for just general walking around use. Unfortunately, the bass is a little weak due to difficulties getting a good seal with the small pads on your ears, and the need for better bass had us referring folks to other small sealed cans. In this review, we spend some time with compact sealed headphones that cost around $100 that are specifically designed to shut out a little outside noise while listening, and are convenient to carry around in a backpack or briefcase. These are generally great headphones for college students, or for general purpose use around the home. The headphones reviewed here along with the new Sennheiser PX 200-II are the AKG K81DJ, the Audio Technica ATH-FC700A, and the Sennheiser HD 228, all of which are slightly larger headphones and less convenient for carrying around. Three of the four sound very, very good for this type of headphone ... you'll have to read on to find the thorn among roses. On to the reviews ------>
